"Women in Foreign Affairs"

Dr. Muneera Al Khalifa, graduated Summa Cum Laude from Webster University Geneva with a B.A. in International Relations with an emphasis in International Economics, a Minor in Psychology and a Certificate in International Human Rights. At the 2008 Commencement, she was awarded the Undergraduate Leadership Award, as well as the International Relations Departmental (highest) honors.
Following Webster University Geneva, she enrolled at Oxford University, UK, and next earned a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) in International Relations, with a dissertation titled "Women's rights in armed conflicts," specializing her degree in International Law and Middle East Politics.
Dr. Khalifa continued her studies at Oxford in the Department of Oriental Studies, Middle East Centre, for her PhD. A Clarendon Scholar (the first recipient from Bahrain, awarded to the top 7% of students at Oxford), her PhD dissertation was "Identity Formation in Bahrain's Contemporary History", in which she explored notions of citizenship and identity in her home country.
She currently serves as the Executive Director of the Institute of Diplomacy, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Bahrain.
