Coming in the middle of a legendary late 90s / early 00s run where he was cranking out 3-5 features per year, including shock classics like Audition and Ichi the Killer, one of Japanese director Takashi Miike’s most boundary-pushing films is the shot-on-MiniDV Visitor Q. Think Teorema if the family Terence Stamp descended on was made up of criminals and perverts and you’re starting to get the idea. Visitor Q was a rare comedy (if you want to call it that) to infiltrate some “Bleak Week” programming in cinemas this past June.
