About this Event
(Maya Da-Rin, 2019, Brazil, 98 minutes)
Featured in last year's esteemed New Directors / New Films film festival, Maya Da-Rin's 2019 feature The Fever plays as if someone melded Ciro Guerra's studies of indigenous peoples with Apichatpong Weerasethakul's aesthetics and soundscapes. In it we look at Justino, a security guard in an industrial area in the Amazon rainforest. As Justino comes down with a strong fever he starts having trouble differentiating between sleep and wakefulness, present and past.
