From 8/21 to 9/3, Film Series patrons can rent The August Virgin. Reminiscent of the films of Richard Linklater and/or Cédric Klapisch in its focus on chatty young people and with a strong sense of place, Jonás Trueba's The August Virgin follows 33-year-old Eva as she stays in a mostly-empty Madrid over the hot summer and leaves her fate to chance encounters with old friends and new acquaintances. We learn about Eva in bits and pieces throughout the film, and along the way are presented with ways of interrogating where our own lives have led us.
