ISSUES:
Global energy economy continues to stay at the forefront of international debates at both policy and business levels. One of the central topics are  current increases in oil prices underpinned by OPEC+ cooperation in supply management and shortfalls due to sanctions on Iran and acute political crises in Venezuela and Libya. Better understanding of price formation reporting and information of energy markets are key to ensure successful participation of sellers and buyers in those markets. Meantime, while longer term analysis of energy markets suggest continuation of decline in relative shares of coal and crude oil in the world energy balance, absolute growth in those hydrocarbons production and consumption volumes remains in main scenarios. To assure such growth adequate investment plans in traditional as well shale oil need to be envisaged by market players. Meantime technological innovations and perpetual search for more efficient ways of producing and using hydrocarbons and competing energy sources will continue to be an important factor  influencing investments in oil and other energy industries.

This year Prof. Indjikian will run his fourth event on energy with more stress on the state of energy and especially on price formation and reporting on prices  in energy markets. Which price regimes are governing oil and other energy markets, ie how prices are set and get known by market participants, and how prices reported by agencies like Argus Media are permitting sellers and buyers to formulate prices in sales contract. Also  how information on past and current prices, and expectations based on knowledge of the past permit  oil and other energy companies to take  investment decision's, and thus, replace or expand their energy reserves and production capacities.

The keynote presentation by David Fyfe, Cheif Economist of Argus Media, will be followed by a short presentation by Rouben Indjikian comparing main medium to long-term energy forecasts of energy international organizations and major companies, which are influencing the investment decisions of energy companies.
