(Suzanne Lindon, 2020, France, 73 minutes)
Spring Blossom is the debut film from 20-year-old French director Suzanne Lindon, who is here directing and starring in the production of a script written when she was 15 years old. Playing a character who shares her first name, the fictional Suzanne is at once too mature at 16 to hang out with people her own age but also perhaps too naive to hang out with those older. Concerning a young woman's first love, Lindon puts the spotlight on a type of character who doesn't often receive it, and her perspective adds a fresh new voice to the otherwise over-trod territory of the coming-of-age romance.
