Solyent Green

Considered one of the definitive sci-fi cult classics, Soylent Green prophetically predicted a future that really draws from the anxieties of our current times. Set in the dystopian year 2022, food is scares and New York City is dangerously overpopulated after global warming has devasted the earth and caused year-round humidity due to the greenhouse effect. Charlton Heston stars as NYPD detective Frank Thorn, whom is investigating the murder of a CEO of a company that produces a mysterious food called Soylent Green. The film is most famous for its legendary, and often quoted, twist ending, certainly spoiled to many pop culture fiends since its original reveal in 1973, but remains one of cinema's most iconic climatic finales.
