(Stephen Schible, 2017, South Korea, 100 min.)
The film is a documentary about musician Ryuichi Sakamoto, an Oscar-winning film composer and musician best known in the US for his work in The Last Emperor, The Revenant, and Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence, as well as for his non-film work both solo and with Yellow Magic Orchestra. It follows Sakamoto at work while also battling a stage 3 cancer diagnosis. It's an interesting film that's way more than just a doc about an artist, and I think it does a really great job using the medium to deliver its emotional payload (especially with its sound design).
In Japanese with English subtitles.
