About this Event
View map(Mário Peixoto, 1931, Brazil, 120 minutes)
Celebrated by Orson Welles, David Bowie, and Caetano Veloso, Mário Peixoto’s sole feature film Limite sorely deserves to be taught alongside the likes of Sunrise and The Seashell & the Clergyman in the canon of silent cinema. Made when Peixoto was just 22 years old, Limite follows two women and one man who are adrift in a small boat in the open sea. Told in a compelling, nonlinear, often outright avant-garde way, Limite is a real hidden gem from the winding down of the silent era.
