In the framework of 9th annual 2021 course on commodities, Prof. Rouben Indjikian has invited leading international experts to hold open lectures. This year’s lecturers and themes are:


Robert Parson, Partner, Commodity and Trade Finance at Squire Patton Boggs, UK

“Arbitrating commodity trade finance disputes – are the current arbitral systems fit for purpose?”, 28 October 2021, on Webster Geneva Campus

Robert Parson is a well-known international lawyer based in London and specialising in commodity and trade finance. He is frequently asked to advise on disputes arising from trade finance transactions and instruments. He examines the current avenues for arbitral review of trade finance disputes and considers whether claimants and defendants are well served by the available choices.


Lamon Rutten, CEO of Indonesian Commodity Exchange, Jakarta

“Commodity price formation and the role of commodity exchanges in it””, 11 November 2021 by Zoom

Lamon Rutten is a leading expert on commodity markets, who contributed to the creation and development of commodity exchanges in India and Indonesia and previously creating a forward looking commodity programme at UNCTAD.

John (Mac) MacNamara is long-time commodity trade finance specialist, having worked in banks, traders & funds. He set up & for 20 years ran the award-winning global Structured Commodity Trade Finance team at Deutsche Bank, & wrote some of the original text books on SCTF/STCF
