About this Event
(Angela Schanelec, 2023, Germany/France, 109 minutes)
German director Angela Schanelec’s 2019 effort, I Was at Home, But…, was one of the last films we ran in March 2020 before going into a 17-month stretch of darkness in Winifred Moore. And now here we are, on the other side, with another singular work from Ms. Schanelec to put on our screen. Music, which premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival last year, is something of a riff on the Oedipus myth. Young Jon is abandoned by his parents in Greece and is raised by a family of farmers. Later, after an accident, Jon is sent to prison and meets the guard Iro, and they form a bond over classical music and opera.
In Greek and English with English subtitles as needed.
