About this Event

Our current exhibition, Jocelyn Augustino: Disaster! is on view 29 October - 24 November 2021
with a talk by Ms. Augustino on Friday, 29 October, 3 pm, Sverdrup 123
and an opening reception Friday, 29 October, 5-7 pm
The photographs in “Disaster!” are a sample of images that Jocelyn Augustino has created for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) over the course of the past 26 years. These images are now part of the historical record in the National Archives collection. Jocelyn has traveled with FEMA’s Urban Search and Rescue teams nationwide as they respond to federally-declared disasters. She deploys to document response and recovery efforts before, during and after disasters strike. Most notably, Jocelyn documented the important work the agency carried out during two historic events, after the 9/11 terrorist attacks at the Pentagon and to Louisiana prior to Hurricane Katrina making landfall.
Please use the doors in the west lobby, in the west wing of the Sverdrup Building, or at the west end of the building at the loading dock, across from the Visual Arts Studios. The west wing of the building is near Plymouth Ave., away from Edgar Rd. We will be open for the reception on October 29th. We hope you will join us!
We ask that all guests please wear a mask, except when eating and drinking, at all University events. We strongly encourage all visitors to be fully vaccinated. (Please note that current University COVID-19 protocols require that faculty, staff and students not only wear masks but provide proof of vaccination status.) These measures are designed to maintain a safe environment for the Webster University community.
