Join us at the Hunt Gallery for a special evening viewing of our current exhibition Emily Elliott: Objectively Speaking for the Webster community on Wednesday, Dec. 11, 5-7 p.m. The artist will be present.
St. Louis-based Emily Elliott earned the BFA degree at Columbus State University (Georgia), and the MFA degree at the University of South Florida. Prior to St. Louis, Elliott was centered in Brooklyn, New York where she was a studio assistant and fabricator, including working in the Matthew Barney studios. She uses casting materials and techniques as metaphors for society and the individual, her work poses questions about the seen and the unseen and the nature of viewing bodies.
Elliott’s works have been exhibited in the St. Louis region and also nationally including exhibitions at the Contemporary Art Museum, USF, Tampa, Fl; the Satellite Art Show, Miami, Fl; and Untitled Space, New York. Most recently her work has been featured in the 2019 Cedarhurst Art Center Biennial, Mount Vernon, IL; the 59th Mid-States Art Exhibition, Evansville Museum of Arts, History and Science, Evansville, IN; and as a visiting artist at Notre Dame University.
Hunt Gallery is located in the Dept. of Art, Design, and Art History (DADAH) Visual Arts Studios, 8342 Big Bend Blvd. Hunt Gallery events are always free and open to the public.
