About this Event
From 8/28 to 9/10, Film Series patrons can rent Ghost Tropic. Released as the third feature by young Belgian writer/director Bas Devos, Ghost Tropic is a quiet film that follows mother and cleaning woman Khadija on her long journey home from work. Having screened at the Directors' Fortnight in tandem with the 2019 Cannes Film Festival, The New York Times notes its "inspired impressionism." With an aspect ratio of 1.33:1 and a soft, rich picture of Brussels' nightlife, the film offers smoothly interwoven vignettes of small, pointed moments between her and the many faces of the city. A story where significance hides in the details, Ghost Tropic takes its time to tell a muted, unhurried story of a woman who misses her train stop.
