In a film that will appeal to fans of the humanistic films of Asghar Farhadi, Serbian director Srdan Golubovic’s Father follows a working-class man named Nikola (Goran Bogdan, best known to American audiences as Yuri Gurka in season three of Fargo) who is made to give up his children to social services. Nikola is a good and dedicated man and tries to provide the needed conditions to retrieve his children from the foster home they were placed in, but corrupt bureaucrats refuse to work with him, prompting a journey across Serbia on foot to visit hopefully more receptive officials in Belgrade.
