Emotional intelligence is ranked in the World Economic Forum’s list of the top 10 skills that employees will need to possess to thrive in the workplace of the future.

Recent statistics underline the importance of this capability in the workplace. 71% of hiring managers said they valued an employee’s EI (emotional intelligence, also known as “emotional quotient”, or EQ) over their IQ. Further 75% said they would be more likely to promote an employee with high emotional intelligence. More than half (59%) said they wouldn’t hire a candidate with a high IQ and low EQ.

But what is EI?

A panel of the leading experts in their fields will help us understand what Emotional Intelligence is, what are the mechanisms underlying it and what are the factors associated with it. We will explore how companies can develop and cultivate practices to build EI in the workplace, and ultimately enhance success.
