Please join us this Friday for the DADAH Friday Forum lecture at noon in SV123. Our speaker this week is art historian Melissa Venator, her lecture is titled X-Rays and Archives: New Discoveries from SLAM’s German Expressionist Collection.
Dr. Melissa Venator is the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation Fellow for Modern Art at Saint Louis Art Museum, where is presently writing the catalogue of SLAM’s significant German Expressionism collection. Venator completed her doctorate at Rice University with a dissertation on experimental light art made in Germany in the 1920s. She earned a Master’s degree in Art History at University of Pennsylvania, master’s degrees in arts administration and business administration from Southern Methodist University, and the BA in art history from University of Texas at Austin. Prior to her appointment at SLAM, Dr. Venator was the Stefan Englehorn Curatorial Fellow at Busch-Reisinger Museum at Harvard. She is the author of Carl Grossberg: Works in the Merrill C. Berman Collection, the first English language monograph on the artist.
