Dachra (Abdelhamid Bouchnak, 2018, Tunisia, 114 minutes)
With influences ranging from The Silence of the Lambs to The Blair Witch Project, the new Tunisian horror film Dachra has proven an auspicious debut from director Abdelhamid Bouchnak. In it we follow three students doing a project in documentary journalism. Not wanting to rehash the same tired projects their peers have already done, the trio instead follow a lead about a notorious patient named Mongia at a local institution. After being stonewalled by employees of the institution, the group finds themselves trapped overnight in Mongia's isolated hometown.
