Under the motto Round the clock / Round the world, the 3rd edition of the Creativity Week is breaking, once more, new ground when it comes to conference organization.

Initiated by the Webster Center for Creativity and Innovation (WCCI) in June 2017 as the only week-long conference entirely dedicated to creativity and innovation, the Creativity Week also ran the world’s first dual-city conference in June 2018, in Geneva and Bologna (in partnership with the Marconi Institute for Creativity).

We are thus well prepared for another important ‘first’ in creativity studies, an innovation that responds to the current pandemic and its multiple constraints. Unable to hold our usual conference on the Webster Geneva campus in June of 2020, we are determined not to let another year pass without a one-of-a-kind event.

As such, we are excited to announce that, in collaboration with the Serendipity Society and the International Society for the Study of Creativity and Innovation, the WCCI will run the world’s first 24 hours live creativity conference – a day-long mix of events you can actively participate in, through Zoom (link here), and that will also be livestream on the YouTube channel of Webster University Geneva (link here).

This event will take place on the 9th of June (Wednesday), midnight to midnight Central European Summer Time (CEST). Be sure to check your local time as some of these events might actually run on the 8th or 10th of June depending on where you are in the world.

The theme this year, rather fitting, is ‘Serendipity in the Creative Process’!

The event will showcase an impressive number of keynotes, paper presentations, panel discussions and workshops with experts from around the globe, all moderated from Geneva by Vlad Glaveanu and from London by Wendy Ross. The keynotes include Ron Beghetto (Arizona State University, USA), Samantha Copeland (TU Delft, the Netherlands), Bem Le Hunte (University of Technology Sydney, Australia), Alan Lawson (independent artist), Margherita Sprio (University of Westminster, UK), Frédéric Vallée-Tourangeau (Kingston University, UK), Christian Busch (New York University, USA), Stephann Makri (City, University of London, UK), and Menko Victor (Pek) van Andel (serendipitiologist).

For more details about the program for the day, please see here. Details about how to participate online can be found here.

In addition, because 24 hours is not enough to talk about creativity and innovation, we invite you also to our satellite online event, a thematic session organized by the School of Business, Webster University Geneva, on the 8th of June (Tuesday) between 15:30 and 18:00 CEST that includes a workshop ‘Can China be creative?’ and a panel discussion ‘Creativity x China x AI’. More details can be found here.

All the events associated with the Creativity Week are free of charge, but registration is recommended. More details to follow.

So do accept the online challenge and join us for a unique event that will make history in creativity studies! Because creativity matters. Now more than ever before.
