Presented by Remy Cross in the Department of Anthropology and Sociology
The emergence of the Alt-right – previously an unknown element in the political landscape – caught many long-time observers of right-wing radicalism in the wake of the 2016 election. Yet the forces that led to this point had been brewing in online spaces for well over a decade. This lecture considers how contemporary right-wing radical groups used online spaces to recruit, organize, and refine their tactical and strategic repertoires to become the movements we recognize today.
