The Beating: Power and Control in a Refugee Camp”

Presented by Joseph Stimpfl in the Department of Religious Studies

The modern phenomenon of refugee migration has delivered very complex legal, political and sociocultural problems. This lecture reviews the difficulties faced by all key actors involved in a refugee camp, approaching this subject at a micro and personal level by reviewing an apparent human rights violation in a refugee camp. It attempts to unpack the occurrence by introducing a set of deeper complex meanings and relationships in the event.
