This workshop is designed to provide educators, administrators, and support staff with the knowledge and skills necessary to prevent and address sexual violence within educational settings. Participants will learn to recognize the signs of sexual violence, implement effective prevention strategies, and provide supportive, trauma-informed responses.

 

Objectives

1. Recognize the signs and symptoms of sexual violence;
2. Identify evidence based strategies and interventions for preventing sexual violence in school settings; tailored to the needs of students;
3. Demonstrate effective communication skills in discussing sensitive topics related to sexual violence with students, parents and staff;
4. Identify steps in providing a supportive, trauma-informed response to a disclosure of sexual violence;
5. Ability to evaluate personal biases and assumptions related to sexual violence;
6. Explore referral options: school counsellors; external psychiatrists, psychologists, community resources.

 

Trainer : Pritha Mani is a child, adolescent and young adult counselor from Switzerland. She has extensive training and 14 years of experience working in the mental health field and has practiced in India and in Switzerland.

Mani has a history of working in a variety of settings which include NGOs, clinics, hospitals and schools. Mani graduated from Webster University (Geneva) where she obtained her Master of Arts in Counseling and is a licensed counselor with the Swiss Association for Counseling. She is on the board of Hand in Hand Switzerland and the vice president of Barefoot College and Bindi International Suisse.
