From Hong Kong New Wave director Ann Hui (Boat People, The Song of the Exile) and screenwriter Ivy Ho (Gorgeous, Comrades: Almost a Love Story), the 2002 effort July Rhapsody looks at the slow erosion of relationships among a married fortysomething couple. Featuring legendary Hong Kong actors (not to mention Cantopop stars) Jacky Cheung (As Tears Go By, Bullet in the Head) and Anita Mui (last seen on our screen in The Heroic Trio and Executioners, appearing here in her final film role) and shot by Kwan Pun-leung, who also has a credit on films such as In the Mood for Love and 2046.
