Class dates: February 20, 27 March 6, 13, 20, 27
Hours: Pawns and Challengers 10-11 am, Jumpstarters and Advanced 11-12 pm
Where: Online via Zoom
Instruction will be provided by members of the nation’s #1 ranked Webster University Chess Team, based on Susan Polgar’s popular and highly effective chess curriculum and direct guidance.
Pawns: (Complete beginner) This class is for students who are new to chess. After this class Students should be able to move all chess pieces, set up the chess board, and identify squares on the chess board. They will also be introduced to check and checkmate as a concept.
Jumpstarters: (USCF unrated-1000) This class is for students who know the basic rules of the game and will introduce all the basic tactics, strategies, opening principles and endgame techniques.
Challengers: (USCF rating 1000-1500) This class will reinforce all the basic principles in all phases of the game and will build on it with more complex tactics and strategies, as well as important endgame patterns.
Advanced: (USCF rating 1500+) Students will build upon their knowledge to increase their performance in tournament competition. Lessons will focus on advanced strategies, tactics, openings, and endgames as well as important practical tips for the competitive player.
