15th Annual Philosophy Conference sponsored by the Philosophy Department in the College of Arts & Sciences.

  • Keynote presentation at noon in the Library Conference Room. Lunch will be provided.
  • Student presentations will be in the Sunnen Lounge, University Center

 

The keynote speaker is Dr. Stephanie Rivera Berruz, who is an Assistant Professor of Philosophy at Marquette University “Writing from the Margins of Philosophy: Ideas Come from Every(Body)”

 

Dr. Stephanie Rivera Berruz  was the recipient of the Woodrow Wilson Career Enhancement Fellowship for her work on Latin/a American Philosophy for the academic year of 2017-2018. Her main research interests lie in Latin American Philosophy and Latinx feminisms as well philosophy of race, gender, and sexuality. She recently co-edited an anthology: Comparative Studies in Latin American and Asian Philosophies (2018), and her publications appear in Hypatia, Inter-American Journal of Philosophy, and Essays in Philosophy. Originally from Bayamon, Puerto Rico, Dr. Rivera Berruz has lived both inside and outside of the continental United States. She credits her migrations as inspirations for her interests in philosophies that explore myriad dimensions of identity.

 

CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS

All undergraduate students are invited to submit papers for this conference by Friday, Feb. 14. Guidelines:

  • Philosophical papers on any subject
  • Roughly 7-10 pages
  • Be prepared to present your topic for about 20 minutes followed by Q&A
  • Include a cover sheet and abstract
  • Submit via email (any standard file type) to: submit@websterphilosophyconference.com
  • Put any identifying info on a separate page to enable blind review and evaluation of your submissions
