Tom Joad (Henry Fonda) returns to his home after a jail sentence to find his family forced off of their land due to foreclosure. The family witnesses the suffering of the Great Depression as they travel to California in search of a new beginning. Jane Darwell (Best Actress in a Supporting Role) and John Ford (Best Director) received Academy Awards for their work on the film.
