Musical: Spring Awakening

The Conservatory of Theatre Arts at Webster University will present the Tony Award–winning musical Spring Awakening November 19-23 in the Browning Mainstage Theatre. Spring Awakening is based on the play by Frank Wedekind, with book and lyrics by Steven Sater and music by Duncan Sheik.

Spring Awakening tells the story of nineteenth-century German teenagers attempting to navigate the unknown facets of their sexual awakening, while also adhering to the strict rules set by their authoritarian parents and teachers. Along their dark journey, the teenagers discover that those we love never really leave us. Sheik’s rock music adds, according to Entertainment Weekly, “the most gorgeous Broadway score this decade” to the provocative tale.

Please join us before the November 20th performance for a Tweets-and-Treats event. We encourage patrons to arrive at the theatre beginning at 6:30 P.M. to tweet with us before the show. Pizza and drinks will be served.

In addition, Gladys Smith, the Assistant Director of Webster’s Counseling and Life Development Department, will be featured in a post-show discussion with cast members directly after the November 21st performance.

To reserve tickets for Spring Awakening, call 314-968-7128. This show is intended for mature audiences and is free to all Webster students, faculty, and staff with a valid ID.
