Terry Towery will speak about his work on Friday, Nov. 10, at 3 p.m. in Sverdrup 123.
He will join us for a reception in the gallery on Friday, Nov. 10, 5-7 p.m.
His exhibition, "Terry Towery: Explorations with Platinum and Palladium," is on view until Dec. 1.
The exhibition consists of three portfolios of platinum/palladium prints, Picturesque Landscapes, Useless Beauty and the Sublime Landscapes of Timothy Eugene O’Tower.
While they share a process in common, the work plays on an idea Edmund Burke expressed in his 1757 essay A Philosophical Enquiry into the Origin of Our Ideas of the Sublime and Beautiful. The “Picturesque arose as a mediator between these opposed ideals of beauty and the sublime, showing the possibilities that existed in between these two rationally idealised states.”
Also, continuing in the Small Wall Gallery, #webstereclipse: Bill Barrett, Inocencio Boc, Ron Gaddis, Patrick Giblin, Christine Giancola, Kristi Lenz, Susan Hacker Stang
May Gallery events are free and open to the public. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday, 9 am to 9 pm, and Saturday and Sunday, noon to 5 pm.
