Fallen Angels

The Films of Wong Kar-Wai:

(Wong Kar-Wai, 1994, Hong Kong, 96 min.)

Fallen Angels is set in the surreal backdrop of urban, nighttime Hong Kong. The loose narrative intercuts two story lines. Wong Chi-Ming (Leon Lai), an introverted Hong Kong hit man, becomes disillusioned with his dangerous lifestyle. His life is further complicated by his beautiful contact (Michele Reis) who pines after him despite the fact they have never met. In another part of the city, He Zhiwu (Takeshi Kaneshiro), a mute, boyish ex-con, makes a living by sneaking into and running businesses after hours. Still living with his father who runs the Chungking Mansions hotel, the restless He falls for Cherry (Charlie Yeung), a woman getting over a breakup. Fallen Angels continues Wong Kar-Wai’s visually stylish storytelling. In Cantonese with English subtitles
