The Economic Development Commission of Florida's Space Coast, president & CEO, Lynda L. Weatherman will present on the role of the EDC and projects recently announced, specifically on EDC's talent attraction initiative, education enrollment numbers, and manufacturing focus on building talent supply to meet demand. Ms. Weatherman also will provide an update on local and national economic development indicators, including U.S. Real GDP Annual Growth Rate, Monthly Consumer Confidence Index U.S., and Unemployment Monthly Rates.
Lynda L. Weatherman is President & CEO of the Economic Development Commission of Florida's Space Coast. Since 1994, Ms. Weatherman has been responsible for the attraction of new business and investment and retention of existing industry throughout the Space Coast. Ms. Weatherman's role also includes influencing change in government laws and regulations affecting economic development, promoting the Space Coast to encourage new investment, assisting industry in new market entry, supporting efforts of Space Coast military installations, and relaying new programs and procedures to support manufacturing and high-tech companies. Under Ms. Weatherman's leadership, the EDC's recent accomplishments include $1.28B in capital investment resulting from the announcement of 36 business development projects over a five-year period (FY 10/15). In the most recent years, the EDC successfully attracted OneWeb Satellites' manufacturing facility; secured all aspects of commercial spacecraft development; and launch on the Space Coast with Blue Origin's manufacturing and processing facility for its Orbital Launch Vehicle.
